Facial Massage Competition Rules

10 categories – 10 points available

  1. Flow: skillful, variation, and adaptations within modality, fluid/supported transitions between body parts, fluid transitions between hands and tools and hands to medium.
  2. Flow: fluid/effective draping through transitions, time management – 5 min set-up, 5 min client consultation, 25 minute service.
  3. Expertise: appropriate strokes, depth/intensity for area, correct foundational techniques, expertise within modality, appropriate amount of massage medium.
  4. Expertise: understanding of musculoskeletal system, created effective treatment plan based on Model’s needs.
  5. Innovation/Creativity: technique, composition and combination, speed variance, pressure, depth, tempo, rhythm.
  6. Innovation/Creativity: position, duration, and temperature, opening/closing flow, sound bath, tuning forks, crystals, oils.
  7. Ergonomics/Safety/Communication: proper ergonomics and smooth movements, 1 foot on floor, no/inappropriate use of body part (i.e. thumbs, elbows), Model’s needs met (verbal/non-verbal communication), model is NOT allergic to massage medium, jewelry removed/stored, proper hand/wrist/shoulder alignment for Player and Model
  8. Ergonomics/Safety/Communication: supported/bolstered, warm, comfortable, and effectively draped, clean/safe environment for Model, correct table height, health Intake information/discussion for treatment plan (includes indications/contraindications), effectively palpitates, identifies problem areas, creates 25 min. treatment plan.
  9. Professional Presentation: understands rules of competition, physically prepared/free of any infectious disease, professional, uniform, scrubs, yoga pants, shoes), good hygiene (hair up, nails, uniform, scrubs, linens), can freely access all equipment (side table allowed)
  10. Professional Presentation: products clearly labeled, ingredient deck available, no eye contact/speaking to judges, present and Model focused, provides sweatband and/or towel if needed (sweating on client = points deducted), provide linens, tools, oil, and any items needed to perform service *no plug-in tools, battery operated OK
